Your Real Estate Salesperson license is valid for two years, with the exact expiration date printed on your physical license. To be eligible to renew, you must be actively affiliated with a sponsoring broker.
All licensees must successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education before their expiration date. To meet New York State requirements, your coursework must include the following mandatory topics:
- 3 hours: Fair housing and/or discrimination
- 2.5 hours: Ethical business practices
- 2 hours: Cultural competency
- 2 hours: Implicit bias training
- 1 hour: Recent legal matters
- 1 hour: Law of agency
(Important: If this is your very first license renewal, you must complete 2 hours of agency instruction instead of 1)
If you complete and pass an approved broker qualifying course within your current two-year term, it will grant you continuing education credit.
