Remote Learning
-
-
Remote learning offers a flexible, modern approach to education, but maximizing its benefits requires clarity and intention. To help you succeed in your online coursework at NYSARE, please review the following operational and behavioral standards.
Live Synchronous Class Sessions
- Active Camera Usage: Live sessions rely on real-time video technology. Because most licensing and certification programs require strict hour tracking mandated by external regulatory bodies, instructors must verify your identity and attendance. You are required to keep your device camera turned on throughout the session so your instructor can visually confirm your presence and engagement.
- Proper Screen Names: Your display name must clearly reflect your legal name. If logging in via a mobile device or tablet, default identifiers like "iPad" or a phone number must be updated to your full name prior to joining.
- Dedicated Participation: Class time demands your full focus. Avoid multi-tasking or engaging in outside activities that could detract from your learning or disrupt your peers. Because certain coursework involves confidential discussions, you should join from a private, quiet space. Treat online sessions with the same professionalism as an in-person classroom. If you must step away briefly for personal matters, minimize the interruption and return as quickly as possible.
- Professional Conduct & Community: You and your peers form a shared learning environment built on mutual respect. Be mindful of your tone and communication style, as digital interactions lack the non-verbal cues of a physical classroom. Strive to cultivate a supportive, collaborative atmosphere that encourages constructive dialogue and trust.
Asynchronous Coursework
Independent assignments—such as exercises, short written reflections, and discussion board posts—are vital to meeting your course’s learning objectives and certification hours. Track all due dates carefully using a calendar or notebook, pay close attention to instructor prompts, and reach out immediately if you encounter difficulties with any material or assignments.
Course Cancellation Policy
- 30+ Days Prior: Cancellations requested 30 days or more before the scheduled start date will receive a 100% refund.
- 14 to 29 Days Prior: Cancellations made between 14 and 29 days before the start date are eligible for a 75% refund. If a waitlisted student or replacement registers to fill the vacated seat, a full refund will be processed once registration is confirmed.
- Fewer Than 14 Days: Cancellations submitted 14 days or less prior to the start date are non-refundable. However, if a replacement student registers for the open seat, a 75% refund will be granted.
- Cancellation by NYSARE: If NYSARE cancels a course due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, enrolled students will receive a full refund. NYSARE reserves the right to adjust or cancel schedules as necessary.
Registration & Attendance Policy
- Approval & Enrollment: All prospective students must secure approval for their curriculum from the NYSARE Director during registration. Enrolling in courses powered by third-party platforms requires additional approval from the respective provider. Registration is finalized only after approval is granted and the student is officially enrolled with NYSARE.
- Student Status: Per NYSARE regulations, fully registered individuals hold official student status for the duration of their enrolled course, unless officially withdrawn or disconnected from the program. Course privileges are strictly reserved for officially registered students; non-registered individuals may not sit in on classes without explicit auditing approval. Late registrations require written authorization from the Program Director.
- Mandatory Attendance & Make-Ups: Students are required to complete 100% of the instructional hours mandated by state licensing boards and course prerequisites. If you miss a class, you must schedule a make-up session at least 48 hours in advance. Course completion certificates will not be issued until NYSARE or its third-party provider verifies full hour fulfillment.
- Punctuality & Tracking: Attendance for live (in-person and online) sessions is taken precisely at the scheduled start time. A 5-minute grace period is permitted; arriving beyond this window results in a marked absence, requiring the class to be retaken. For self-paced online courses, attendance and participation are tracked automatically via built-in system timers.
